Design
You may have been thinking of and planning to build a new home for a long time already, or you may be just starting to think about it. Either way you probably have a basic idea on the style and design you want. Some of the first questions to come up will be:
- Do you want a one story or two story?
- How do you want your rooms situated?
- Do you want a basement?
We will start helping you formulate your ideas in the first meeting as we need to have an idea as to what you want before we can start any pricing. We can show you homes we have built and what they cost if this helps you decide what you want.
You may have items that you “must have” in your home such as three bedrooms, main floor laundry, home office, etc. Then there are items you “want” to have if your budget and the size of your building parcel allow it such as a sunroom or a three-car garage. It's good to make a list of your needs and wants to help us help you decide on a good plan for your home.
Some people have sketches, some have drawings on graph paper, some have pictures of the home they want, or some simply explain what they want. We can start the process with whatever information you have. We will do some drawings on our CAD program to establish the floor plan you want. After you approve these designs we will draft the final blueprint that will show the elevations and all the other aspects of the home. The design and blueprint phase are important as this is the road map we use to build your dream home.
The exciting thing is that you get a home that is original and unique to you and you didn't have to follow anyone else's design or fit your lifestyle into a predrafted house plan. We are now ready to move on to the Product Selections phase.
